August 24 marks the fun and auspicious celebrations of Krishna Janmashtami this year. Also known as Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, this festival is celebrated to honour the birth of Lord Krishna. As per the Gregorian calendar, the festival usually falls during the months of August and September. Janmashtami is observed on the 8th day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Shravan.
